This resource aims to improve the provision of health services to members of the community affected by FGM by promoting awareness and understanding of clients' cultural needs and differences.

It has been developed to assist health professionals provide antenatal and postnatal care to women affected by Female Genital Mutilation(FGM). It contains interviews with patients and specialist clinicians on the topics of:

In 2005, Family Planning Queensland, through its Multicultural Women’s Health Education Project, hosted a national >conference on FGM. Key specialists and advocates on this issue attended the conference. Edited highlights are now available on the FGM conference DVD.

The FGM Poster

The FGM poster was produced by Family Planning Queensland’s Multicultural Women’s Health Education Project and represents bi-lingual educators working to prevent FGM in affected communities in Queensland. The FGM Project

The Multicultural Women's Health Education project on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) focuses on th prevention of FGM. Of equal impoprtance, the group works to provide affected women increased access to information and services to improve their sexual and reproductive health.

The FGM project aims to mobilise affected communities, health professionals, religious leaders, traditional leaders, women and men, through education and information, to change their mindset and involve them in preventing FGM.
