Clinic services
The clinic is staffed by professional doctors and nurses trained in sexual and reproductive health an provide confidential services including:
- Information on all contraceptive methods for men and women
- Insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices and Implanon
- Supply of hormonal methods of contraception including ‘The pill’, vaginal rings, emergency contraception and injections
- Sexual health checks
- Pregnancy testing and referral
- Pap smears
- Information, assessment and management of menopause, sexual relationships and sub fertility issues
Note: For repeat pill prescriptions, it may be necessary to make an appointment to see the doctor or nurse. Please check with reception staff.
Education services
We provide education and training in sexual and reproductive health for:
- Teachers
- Disability sector workers
- Doctors, nurses, and other allied health professionals
- JCU Training; pharmacy, medical, education
Parent/carer information and education programs include:
- Preparing for puberty
- Communicating about sexuality with children
- Responding to sexual behaviours
- Young Dads program at Cleveland Youth Detention Centre
Family Education Program
Family Education programs are conducted throughout the year to encourage parent/child communications about sexuality. The sessions provide age-appropriate sexuality education, information and support during puberty, build your child’s self esteem and answer questions with comfort.
Sessions are 2.5 hrs and are aimed at Upper primary – Grades 5-7, and are held during evening hours from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.
Cost: $25 per family. Bookings are essential, please phone for further details on (07) 4723 8184. Light supper provided.
