FPQ Cairns is a leading provider of sexual and reproductive health services. This is achieved through excellence in clinical, health promotion, education and sexual assault counselling services.
Fees
All of our services are free or low cost. To access our services, clients pay a small annual fee, effective 15 July 2011:

| Concession card holders | $15 per year |
| Standard fee | $30 per year |
We also offer a range of prescription and non-prescription contraceptive products at reasonable prices.
As of 1 September 2011, FPQ’s Cairns centre bulkbills our medical consultations. Please bring your Medicare card with you to your appointment. If you do not have a Medicare card, you can still come to an FPQ clinic. Please notify clinic staff if you do not have a Medicare card at time of booking.
We will continue to charge a fee for IUD and Implanon procedures.
We are committed to serving all clients regardless of their ability to pay. Please speak with a clinic staff person if you are unable to pay.

Clinic services
The clinic is staffed by doctors and nurses trained in sexual and reproductive health who provide confidential services including:
- Information on all contraceptive methods for men and women
- Insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices and Implanon
- Supply of hormonal methods of contraception including ‘The pill’, vaginal rings, emergency contraception and injections
- Sexual health checks
- Pregnancy testing and referral
- Pap smears
- Information, assessment and management of menopause, sexual relationships and sub fertility issues
Note: We require 24 hours notice for repeat pill prescriptions. Pills can be collected when the doctor or specialist nurse have authorised the script. Please check with reception staff.
Education services
FPQ Cairns education team is dedicated to promoting positive and healthy sexual development for all.
We support and resource professionals and community members throughout Far North Queensland.
By providing information, training, resources and support, we aim to equip people with the skills, comfort and confidence to promote healthy sexual learning and development for those in their care.
FPQ education workshops are flexible, and can be designed to meet the needs of specific target groups. Topics cover all areas of sexual and reproductive health. Regular education services provided include:
- Accredited and non-accredited training and workshops for teachers, disability and early childhood sector workers, doctors, nurses, allied health and other professionals
- Parent/carer and other community workshops, information and resources
- Health promotion activities
Sexual Assault services
The FPQ Cairns Sexual Assault Service offers free counselling and support to women and men aged 15+ who have experienced recent or historic sexual assault or sexual abuse. Counselling is also available for children (girls and boys) aged up to 18 years and their non offending family members. Services also include telephone counselling for those who find it difficult to access the centre in Cairns, therapeutic groups, a 24 hour on call service for victims of recent sexual assault, and training/information for other workers. 24 hour acute response service: A 24 hour on call service is provided to support victims of recent sexual assault. Call the police on 000 or attend your local Emergency Department. They will connect you with the Sexual Assault Service.
