Family Education

FPQ acknowledges parents/carers as the primary sexuality educators of their children.

FPQ’s family sexuality education programs are designed to build communication between parents/carers and their children. FPQ offers two sessions within the family education program, which are both 1.5 hours in length, and are attended by parents/carers and their children.

Schools may offer family education programs to support parents/carers to talk about sexuality education with their children. FPQ educators may also offer family education programs in their local community.

Cost:

$180 per 1.5 hour session with a maximum of 30 families (for schools or community organisations).

$12 per family when hosted independently by FPQ.

Parent/carer education: Where do I start?

This 1.5 hour session for parents/carers explores:

The session can be tailored to the stage of development of participant’s children; for example, it may focus on early childhood, or preparing for puberty.

Where do I start? Sessions can be conducted for parents/carers in kindergartens, preschools, childcare centres, community centres or schools. As these sessions are designed for parents/carers to discuss communicating about sexuality, share ideas and discuss a range of strategies to talk about sexuality with children, it is not designed for children to be present at these sessions.
