Partnerships with schools
Providing age appropriate, comprehensive sexuality and relationships education (SRE) is a responsibility shared by educators and parents and carers alike.
Parents and carers want to work together with schools to ensure children and young people grow up healthy and safe, develop healthy relationships and build networks of trusted adults to talk about sexuality and seek guidance and help if needed. There is overwhelming evidence that young people who participate in school based SRE have better health outcomes and improved decision making skills.
It is encouraging to know that parents and carers do, in fact, view classroom-based SRE as an essential part of their child’s learning and development. FPQ encourages parents and carers to talk their child’s teacher to show your support for sexuality and relationships education to be taught in your child’s classroom.
