Intrauterine insertion information
An intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) is a small device which is fitted inside the uterus, where it can remain for lengthy periods to prevent pregnancy. There are two types of IUDs available in Australia: Copper IUDs and Mirena which is a hormone releasing IUD.
