Health Promotion Officer Brisbane
Family Planning Queensland (FPQ) is a unique Queensland organisation offering services in the area of sexual and reproductive health. FPQ provides clinical services, education, training, information and advice related to sexual and reproductive health. An exciting opportunity exists to join this dynamic organisation in the position of Health Promotion Officer, to begin in February 2010.
This position is for six months (maternity leave) at 22.8hrs per week.
The successful applicant will develop and implement sexuality education programs for various groups in the community, including primary and secondary schools, professional groups, parents, carers, families and people with disabilities and their carers.
Salary and hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant depending on qualifications and experience. . Range: $48,186.70 to $55,978.23 fte + 9% superannuation.

Job purpose:
- Responsible to the Brisbane Regional Education Coordinator for development and implementation of education and training programs
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver education and training in the area of sexual and reproductive health.
- Work as a member of FPQ Education Services in providing sexuality education services to the general community.
- Promote and be an advocate for the services of FPQ.
Duties:
- Implement education programs in the area of sexual and reproductive health for:
- People with a disability and their carers
- Primary and secondary schools
- Parents, families and carers
- Implement education and training programs for professional groups (teachers, nurses, health workers, social workers, disability workers, youth workers, pre-service students)
- Develop and maintain working relationships and partnerships with government and non-government organisations.
- Maintain data on all education and training services delivered and provide monthly data returns to the Brisbane Regional Education Coordinator
- Attend meetings/staff development activities as required
- Conduct promotional activities such as displays and information stalls
- Maintain statistical data on education services in region and information required for accreditation purposes
Annual salary range
Level 4-5
Occupational Superannuation: 9%
Key selection criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in education.
- Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of education programs for schools and community groups
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of training and education programs for professionals
- Demonstrated understanding of key issues in the area of sexual and reproductive health
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects.
- Computer literacy with word processing, email and database programs
Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.
Eligibility for teacher registration is also highly regarded.
Other requirements of the position
It is a requirement of this position that the employee undergoes a Working with Children Check (administered by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian) Ongoing employment requires a positive notice letter and a blue card.
A current Queensland driver’s licence
Work hours
The standard spread of hours for FPQ employees is 8am - 8pm. Flexible work arrangements can be negotiated with regard to workloads and range of commitments.
