Family Planning Queensland (FPQ) is seeking a registered nurse with experience in the provision of cervical screening required to develop, implement and review cervical screening education and training programs and projects conducted by FPQ. This part time position could be combined with a clinical role as an Advance Practice Nurse for suitably registered RN’s who are seeking full time employment.

Position Objectives:

To develop, implement and review cervical screening education and training programs and projects conducted by FPQ

To contribute to the development of excellence in sexual and reproductive health training and education programs for clinical professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage FPQ’s Pap Smear Provider Module course for nurses including delivery, evaluation and review
- Manage the General Practice Cervical Screening Updates Project
- Develop and maintain working relationships and partnerships with relevant organisations (Divisions of General Practice, RACGP, Training Consortia, ACRRM, RDAQ) to inform project delivery
- Convene and provide secretariat support to project reference group meetings, including preparation of reports
- Maintain appropriate records of project activities (including review of materials)
- Coordinate the Centre for International Medical Graduates, Cervical Screening Update Project
- Co-ordination of recruitment, training and support of Simulated Clients
- Liaise with Clinical Nurse Manager regarding clinical attachment requirements of programs, including FPQ staff development and support
- Maintain appropriate accreditation and recognition of programs
- Contribute to the development of marketing and promotion strategies for training and education programs, including FPQ website information
- Identify and respond to opportunities for program funding and develop partnerships with organisations relevant to the program area
- Participate in the development, review and delivery and review of health professional education programs delivered by FPQ as required.

- Authorise expenditure for course and project requirements within FPQ financial policy guidelines.

- Maintain a safe working environment for staff and clients in conjunction with Workplace Health and Safety guidelines.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Utilise software programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Registration with the Queensland Nursing Council and current annual license certificate.
- Demonstrated experience as a nurse Pap smear provider
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate accredited training and education programs for clinicians.
- Demonstrated competency in using word processing and email, and the ability to utilise other software including Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable
- Recent experience in sexual and reproductive health nursing.
- Knowledge of the structure of sectors and networks relevant to sexual and reproductive health education and training in Queensland.
- Postgraduate qualifications in sexual and reproductive health or clinical education or willingness to obtain
Additional information
- A degree of flexibility will be required to manage the activities related to the position. Some out of hours work and intrastate travel will be required.
- Additional hours of work as a nurse in FPQ clinics may be available for those with appropriate qualifications and experience
- Nurses employed in a clinical role at FPQ are required to undergo the 'Working with Children Check' administered by the Qld Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian.
- Nurses employed in a clinical role at FPQ are required to demonstrate evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B or willingness to complete the vaccination course and provide evidence of immunity within 9 months.
